THE PRESSURE TO WRITE THE PERFECT BLOG
& The Writer's Block It Brings Me
Happy 2025, Happy Wednesday, and Happy Blog-day, Housevibers! We are deep into the cold, quiet, and slow season that is Wintertime. While we all anxiously await the new beginnings and buds of Springtime, Paige Chapman Design continues chugging along on the path of renovation, interior design, and self-exploration.
I am now working FULL-TIME in Interior Design. It is a feat I didn’t know if I would ever achieve, but alas, here I am, working for a design firm called Collective Spaces Design Works as their Project Manager. I oversee many projects from libraries and other kinds of public spaces, to many different types of storage facilities. I am very much enjoying the work I do, and I have immersed myself into the world of commercial & industrial design.
With all the excitement in my 9-to-5 career, it has led me to wonder, what is the next step for Paige Chapman Design and Real Housevibes? I have slowed down greatly when it comes to pursuing residential design projects, and I have been really focused on creating what I am calling my “show homes,” which will hopefully become short-term or mid-term rentals once they are complete. I am learning that I really enjoy creating spaces that others (and perhaps even, many people) can enjoy.
When it comes to Real Housevibes…it has been awfully quiet. And not because I don’t have ideas, I have so many ideas. I wanted to write about my first-year experience Chairing the Historic East Row Victorian Home Tour, I wanted to write about Christmas decorating on a dime, and more recently, I wanted to write about the new wood floors I installed with my dad in my current master bedroom! The truth of it is, I am plagued with writer’s block. When I start writing, it flows out of me like a casual conversation with old friends, but when it comes to getting started, I freeze.
“I don’t have the perfect pictures, I don’t have ENOUGH pictures, is anyone even going to read this?”
That’s where I seem to get stuck. I love writing, and I enjoy all the feedback I get on my posts. It’s worth it to me to post regardless of how many reactions I get, but my perfectionist mentality stops me from getting out of my own way at times.
All of this to say, I haven’t forgotten about all of you, and I haven’t abandoned this platform, I just need to be better at battling through my own mental barriers. Thanks for sticking with me through it all, and hopefully you’ll hear more from me soon!
